NIKKI SIXX: 'I Want To Apologize In Advance For Growing Up'

September 16, 2007

MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx has issued the following update:

"We're on the eve of the release of my book. I am so grateful to be able to release it, a soundtrack to it and support a charity to help at-risk kids on the streets.

"I want to apologize in advance for growing up, and trust me, I had to do a lot of throwing up (emotionally and physically) to get here. I take my responsibilities today very seriously — my music, photography, charity work, and first and foremost, being a single father (not a single rock star).

"I want to thank all the radio stations who have supported the music, MySpace for their mega-support of the overall project, and, of course, Fuse for playing the video. We have reached so many people and I believe we have just begun. There is a second video and single in the works now thanks to you all.

"I look forward to seeing a lot of you out at the book signings."

Sixx will publish "The Heroin Diaries" on September 18. The book is taken from actual journals Sixx kept in the late '80s while in the grip of a near-fatal heroin addiction.

A soundtrack album, which Sixx recorded under the name SIXX: A.M., came out last month. It debuted on the Billboard album chart at No. 63, selling 11,000 copies.

An acoustic version of the song "Life is Beautiful", which appears on the SIXX: A.M. album, is available for streaming on Nikki's MySpace page.

Twenty-five percent of Sixx's royalties from the book will go to Running Wild In The Night, a charity he established in conjunction with Covenant House to rescue homeless and runaway youth from the streets.

Sixx will go on a publicity tour to sign copies of the book, beginning on September 18 at Borders in the Westwood district of Los Angeles.
